Kristi Thering, Lerdahl’s General Manager and Partner, appeared on WKOW’s Wake Up Wisconsin today to promote next week’s Go Red for Women Luncheon. The luncheon is an annual event, held this year on Friday, February 28th at Monona Terrace. Event details and ticket information are available at the Madison Go Red for Women event page.
Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s national initiative focused on building women’s heart health awareness, promoting healthy lifestyles, and raising critically-needed funds to support research and education. According to the AHA, cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths — nearly 500,000 American women — each year.
Only 55 percent of women realize heart disease is their No. 1 killer, and less than half know what are considered healthy levels for cardiovascular risk factors like blood pressure and cholesterol. The Go Red For Women movement works to make sure women know they are at risk, and to empower women to take charge of their heart health.
