It all started on a crisp winter day in 1984, when brothers Greg and Jeff Lerdahl were riding a ski lift, chatting about what it might be like to own their own business. That conversation sent Greg’s mind racing. By the time Greg returned to Madison, his wheels were turning faster than he could ski down a black diamond slope.
Just months later, he launched LERDAHL and Associates, focusing on installing demountable walls for growing businesses in Dane County. It wasn’t flashy work, but it was needed—and Greg was determined to do it well.
In 1986, their cousin Tim Lerdahl joined as a partner, bringing fresh ideas and a shared passion for building something meaningful. With Tim on board, the company expanded its offerings to include furniture. But this wasn’t just about selling desks and chairs; it was about creating thoughtful, functional spaces where people could thrive.
Becoming a Commercial Interior Construction Leader in Madison and Beyond
As LERDAHL continued to grow, Laurie Richards joined the team in the 1990s, bringing her expertise and passion for design. Laurie played a pivotal role in expanding the design teams, helping the company evolve its services and elevate the art of creating inspired workplaces.
By 1997, LERDAHL had earned a reputation as a leader in commercial interior construction and design, a reflection of the team’s dedication to quality and care in everything they did.
